This September, world leaders will convene in New York to officially adopt the Sustainable Development Goals after defining moments during the Korea World Education Forum, the Oslo Summit on Education for Development, and the Addis Ababa Conference on Financing for Development.

GBC-Education’s annual September events will kick off with the momentous #UpForSchool Town Hall before continuing with closed events available to GBC-Education members. GBC-Education Breakfast & Roundtable on Education in Emergencies

The ongoing conflict in Syria, the violence in South Sudan, the catastrophic earthquake in Nepal, and the lingering impact of Ebola are examples of emergencies that have left millions of children and youth out of school or in poor learning environments. This year’s annual breakfast will be devoted to how the business sector and international partners can drive forward the policy, advocacy, and delivery needed so that education is a priority during emergencies and opportunity is unlocked for the millions of young people whose futures are in jeopardy.

#Tech4Ed: Global Education Platform Discussion
Global Education Screen Shot 2015-08-25 at 11.59.08 AMPlatform Director Adam Braun will be convening a #Tech4Ed discussion to identify and accelerate global innovations for learning through technology.

Educating for Citizenship in a Global World

Building on the Asia Society’s high-level dialogue on girls’ education held in September 2014, this year’s event — co-hosted by Asia Society and GBC-Education — will bring together leaders from Asia and around the world in education, business, policy, and civil society to how education can close the opportunity gap and increase upward mobility by preparing all students for employability and global citizenship.

GBC-Education Member Meeting
This annual members-only strategy meeting brings together different representatives from GBC-Education member companies. It is an opportunity to reflect on GBC-Education’s activities from 2015 and start planning the strategy for 2016 including how GBC-Education can support the implementation of the next development agenda.
