Year in review 2020

As the year comes to a close, the Global Business Coalition for Education and Theirworld teams share a special Year in Review video and recap.

2020 Highlights

At the onset of the pandemic, we connected with many of you to help make more than 100 tools and resources available to students, educators, and parents worldwide. In partnership with HP and Comp-U-Dopt, we helped distribute equipment to vulnerable children in Chicago, Dallas, and Houston to reduce the digital divide in the US.

To encourage business leaders and city officials to support youth and engage with them to be part of the solution and recovery, we released in July a report called Resilience: A New Youth Skill for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The report provides concrete examples and recommendations for how employers, schools, and local leaders can help build a resilient generation of young people with the skills to adapt to change and make more positive contributions to their societies.

To build an even stronger, more informed, and impactful network of businesses with the potential to transform education outcomes, we launched the Business Impact for Education Investment initiative, thanks to the BHP Foundation. The initial research and analysis highlight some great opportunities, which we will share with you early next year.

During the UN General Assembly, we launched The Key, a comprehensive information toolkit designed for philanthropists, government officials, business and corporate responsibility leaders who want to present a robust case for education. Feel free to copy, paste, advocate.

In the coming year, we want to make sure that education becomes everyone’s business. The Global Business Coalition for Education will be working hard to strengthen our partnerships to deliver real impact and provide a brighter future to the next generation.
