GBC-Education is excited to announce the latest member of our Coalition, SABIS! Founded in 1886 in Lebanon, SABIS is a global school management company operating in 20 countries on five continents with four regional operations centers in the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, Egypt, and the United States. Presently, it serves 70,000 students, and is expanding its global reach to Central America and Africa.
SABIS also boasts more than 1,800 SABIS book titles in core subjects, innovative educational technology, student assessments, teacher support materials, and tools to support student placement.
Beyond its long-held success in educational operations, SABIS has also leveraged its expertise to serve the local communities in which it operates. In 2012, SABIS established a school in El-Metn, Lebanon for low-income families through its philanthropic arm, the SABIS Foundation. Initially serving 20 students, the Leila C. Saad SABIS School El Metn has grown to provide quality curriculum, interactive educational technology, book, and school supplies to more than 270 students, many of whom are refugees from Syria.
Most recently, SABIS, alongside Google.Org, Virgin Unite, and the Radcliffe Foundation, announced its partnership with the Clooney Foundation for Justice to help educate thousands of out-of-school refugee children in Lebanon.
“SABIS is proud to play a constructive role in the ambitious initiative recently launched by the Clooney Foundation for Justice to provide education to refugees and out-of-school children in Lebanon,” shared Victor Saad, Vice President of SABIS.
“Given our track-record of 130 years of quality educational provision, we look forward to utilizing our experience to make a difference in the lives of these children – a potentially “lost” generation – affording them the chance to secure a brighter, more hopeful future.”
We are delighted to deepen our work in the Middle East, and to partner with a company that is making a #smartinvestment in students.
