Act for Early Years: Unlocking Investment for Our Youngest Learners

Wednesday, April 17th 2024 in Washington, D.C.

3:30-5:30pm followed by a Networking Reception.

The Global Business Coalition for Education, Theirworld, ECDAN and Sesame Workshop are organizing a high-level discussion on how to advance early childhood development through strategic investments, policies and by building a diverse coalition of stakeholders to act for early years. The event will take place on the sidelines of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund 2024 Spring Meetings.

Nearly 175 million children in the world do not have access to pre-school education. More than a quarter of parents say they have quit a job or dropped out of their studies to avoid childcare costs, causing businesses to lose $3 billion annually due to employee absenteeism related to childcare breakdowns.  Business-led early childhood education policies can support education in the early years – a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
