4. Legacy Giving

Consider becoming a legacy donor and leave a lasting impact to the Global Business Coalition for Education’s mission to end the global education crisis by including a bequest provision in your will.

A will is a legal document by which you may delineate the distribution of your assets and belongings to family, friends, and charitable organizations upon your death. You may make a charitable bequest to Global Business Coalition for Education by including such bequest in your will or revocable trust (e.g., I give and bequeath [$/percent of my residual estate] to GLOBAL BUSINESS COALITION FOR EDUCATION for its general purposes). It is important to use the full legal name of the organization in your will.

During your lifetime, any assets or belongings reflected in your bequest will continue to remain in your possession and you may change your will at any time. If you already have a will, you may amend your will or create a new will to bequest to Global Business Coalition for Education. Because individual circumstances vary, please discuss your gift planning wishes with your legal and tax advisors before making a decision.

In addition to a bequest provision in your will, there are numerous other ways to become a legacy giver. You should talk to your attorney about various types of bequests and how each could fit your legacy goals.

Here is additional information you may need to complete your legacy giving:

Employee Engagement: Education Can Bring Purpose

In a recent survey by McKinsey & Company, two-thirds of US-based employees said that COVID-19 has caused them to reflect on their purpose in life. When employees feel that their purpose is aligned with the organization’s purpose, the benefits expand to include stronger employee engagement, heightened loyalty, and a greater willingness to recommend the company to others.

But the survey highlighted a challenge: only 15 percent of frontline managers and workers feel they are living their purpose at work.

As a company leader, you play an important part in helping your employees find their purpose and live it and supporting education might be the key.

We have turn-key solutions to make education a central part of your company’s purpose – and bring your employees along the journey with the company.

Here are a few ways to get started:

1. Inspire

You can use our most recent video developed with BBDO get your employees engaged in the topic. It can be used at events, on the intranet or social media. For our partners, we can also customize the final scene to include your logo. Watch the video.

2. Fundraise

Your employees can collectively fundraise to end the global education crisis through GBC-Education. Employee donations can be directed to our partner Theirworld, a global children’s charity supporting on-the-ground projects for children and youth. We can provide reports to help your company and employees understand the impact they are making. Get in touch.

3. Engage

Our partners have access to our Education 101 sessions which provide 60-minute engagements with one of our in-house experts in a webinar format for members of your team. These presentations can be customized based on your company’s needs — targeting the entire employee base with a general and informative presentation or developing a bespoke presentation for a smaller team focused on social impact, corporate social responsibility or human resources.

4. Respond to disasters

Through our education in emergencies work, we can partner with your disaster response team to quickly and effectively channel corporate contributions to support education during natural disasters, humanitarian emergencies or other crisis situations. We provide employers with situation reports and impact reports about how contributions are directed. Get in touch.

5. Volunteer

Senior executives can be part of GBC-Education working groups or other executive initiatives. We can also explore opportunities for employee volunteerism and/or pro bono support. For example, as part of the Skills Friendly Cities challenge, companies will support winning cities in developing skilling programs for young people in the US. Contact us to learn more.

6. Participate

Throughout the year, through Theirworld, we may host mass participation events (e.g. walks, activities for families with children, etc.) which make an ideal opportunity for your employees to actively raise awareness about the importance of education.

7. Sign the pledge

Start by saying you care. If your leadership would like to sign up to our education pledge, our team can create bespoke social media and promotional assets to use internally and on social media to promote your company’s commitment to education. Sign the pledge.

The organization’s work is made possible through the generosity of a growing number of partners and supporters that share GBC-Education’s goals and objectives, including private foundations, corporations and individuals.

GBC-Education is guided by our institutional mission and values. GBC-Education will neither seek nor accept financial support that would undermine those values.

Please help us unlock opportunity for young people through education.
