The Trust for Public Land
About
Trust for Public Land (TPL) is a national nonprofit that works to connect everyone to the benefits and joys of the outdoors.
They were founded in 1972 on the conviction that all people need access to nature and the outdoors, close to home, in the cities and communities where they live. We work with communities to create parks and protect public land where they’re needed most, as a matter of health, equity, and justice.
Since its founding, the Trust for Public Land has completed 5,000 park-creation and land conservation projects across the United States, protected over 4 million acres and helped pass more than 500 ballot measures—creating $70 billion in voter-approved public funding for parks and open spaces. The Trust for Public Land also researches and publishes authoritative data about parks, open space, conservation finance, and urban climate change adaptation.
From Hawaii’s coasts to New England’s slopes, their work is changing communities for the better all across the country, in towns big and small.
