GBC-Education is pleased to announce the addition of our newest member, RELX Group! RELX Group is a world-leading provider of information and analytics. They help doctors to save lives; scientists to pursue new discoveries; lawyers and judges to further the rule of law; governments and businesses to prevent fraud; and business professionals to forge commercial relationships.

Through their global community program, RE Cares, RELX Group’s employees engage local communities through volunteering and giving. In addition to local initiatives of importance to employees, RE Cares aligns with its business strengths by focusing on education for disadvantaged young people in order to advance science and health, access to justice, and the protection of society.

Currently, RELX Group works closely with global charity partner, the International Rescue Committee, to provide quality reading materials and vital teacher training to schools that reach more than 6,000 children in Sierra Leone. RELX Group is also financing opportunities in the country for 210 young women to build practical skills and tools for their health, education, and protection. Meanwhile, in the Middle East, the company is financing second-language skills for 3,000 Syrian refugee children in Lebanon by investing in specialized teacher training and improved learning materials.

Already in October 2015, RELX Group participated in GBC-Education’s report, The Journey of a Girl, which revealed potential business investments in girls’ education over the course of girls’ lifetimes. The company looks forward to aligning their existing work on gender equality and humanitarian intervention with GBC-Education’s initiatives focused on girls’ education and safe schools.

“Being a part of GBC-Education will inform our efforts to support education for girls in our local communities and around the world,” said RELX Group Director of Corporate Responsibility, Dr. Márcia Balisciano. “We look forward to learning from the important work being done by our peers in the network.”
