Harnessing AI for the Future of Africa
Time: 12:30 pm- 2:00 pm
Date: Tuesday, September 24, 2024
Location: New York City
There is growing potential and possibility on the African continent. Today there are more than 650 million youth in Africa and by 2030, 75% of the continent will be under the age of 35, making up 42% of the global youth population. The implications for social development and economic growth are enormous, while challenges of extreme poverty and low levels of learning impact the trajectory of the region. About one-third of Africans live in extreme poverty and nearly 90% of children are unable to read a basic text.
With the challenges facing the region alongside huge potential, the Global Business Coalition for Education’s annual luncheon will explore the potential of AI for growth and prosperity in Africa. What are current trends in AI? How can they address issues of equity and inclusion?
Can AI promote rapid inclusivity in education and address issues of youth employment and skills? Join us for a discussion among leaders from business, government, academia and civil society as we unpack the opportunities for growth and prosperity for youth in Africa and beyond.
