Taking Action to Deliver on Education – 27th September

To coincide with the UN General Assembly week GBC-Ed hosted a high-level private breakfast meeting discussion  for its Founding Members and an invited audience. The event included a discussion moderated by former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown which looked at what practical steps can be taken by business and NGOs to deliver Education First.

The group of leaders from business, civil society and government listened to contributions from UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and a number of our Founding Member CEOs/Chairs including Bill Green of Accenture, Hikmet Ersek of Western Union, John Hendricks of Discovery Communications, John Fallon of Pearson, Strive Masiyiwa of Econet Wireless and Aliko Dangote of the Dangote Group. The group also heard contributions from senior executives from McKinsey & Co., Intel, Lenovo and Chevron. A host of other companies including Microsoft, LinkedIn, LEGO, Broadcom and HP were also present.
