Position Summary

The Global Business Coalition for Education is seeking a Head of Outreach and Engagement to expand and deepen our engagement with corporate partners. This individual would focus on business development, outreach and engagement with current member companies and new corporate partners.

About half of the Head of Outreach and Engagement’s time will be dedicated to cultivating new corporate participants for our new multi-year “Business Investment for Education Impact Initiative.”  The initiative aims to build a stronger, more informed and impactful network of businesses with the potential to transform education outcomes through more strategic and coordinated investment. Companies participating will engage in the design, development, testing and execution of the project. The Head of Outreach and Engagement will be responsible for maximizing the diversity, breadth, depth and scope of corporate partners and collaborators.

The other half of the Head of Outreach and Engagement’s time will be focused on fundraising, securing new corporate memberships, and channeling relevant individuals in companies to our existing projects and programs.

The Head of Outreach and Engagement bears principal responsibility for the membership and funded partnerships and will identify and support new project opportunities as they are being developed by staff, funders, members and partners. The Head of Outreach and Engagement will also support on all reporting to donors and corporate partners.

The Head of Outreach and Engagement will ensure we can demonstrate the value and impact of education investment in a way that is compelling and inspires confidence and engagement from current and new partners.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have direct experience working in corporate philanthropy; corporate social responsibility; environmental, social and corporate governance; or a related field.  Experience with international development, particularly education, is a plus.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter able to quickly understand the ambitions of the organization, the business model and the team. The candidate will also take ownership of the role to help the organization achieve and extend beyond its goals.

The successful candidate will be a collaborator, working across multiple time zones with staff, regional partners, local networks, members and partners to grow our network.

The candidate will be able to:

  • Meet prospective donors and supporters on a continual basis to establish effective communications with them.
  • Navigate conversations and pitches to corporate audiences, especially CSR, sustainability and philanthropy departments.
  • Grow a portfolio of supporting foundations, including identification, cultivation and solicitation of major donors.
  • Oversee grant seeking including research, proposal writing, and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate fundraising events.
  • Work closely with the Executive Director.
  • Make public appearances/accept speaking engagements to share information about the organization with the community.
  • Support preparations for board meetings.
  • Oversee fundraising database and tracking systems.
  • Supervise and collaborate with other staff.
  • Oversee creation of publications to support fundraising activities.
  • Maintain membership programs and benefits.
  • Demonstrate professional conduct at all times.
  • Have strong interpersonal and writing skills.
  • Perform other related duties as requested.

 

At the Global Business Coalition for Education, we value all types of learning – both formal and through professional experience.  An advanced degree in Business Administration or related fields is preferred, but not required. The ideal candidate will have 5-10+ years of experience in corporate outreach, engagement, fundraising or a related field.
