Headquartered in Dubai, NRS International is a leading designer and manufacturer of humanitarian products for the humanitarian aid, public health, and international development sectors. NRS International’s family-owned manufacturing facility operates with a 7,000-strong workforce and is based out of Lahore. Though NRS International was launched by Managing Director Farhaj Sarwar’s father 40 years ago, the need for relief products remains: The average refugee spends 20 years without a home and within the education sector, the majority of the 59 million children out of school worldwide reside in emergency and conflict areas.

NRS International’s clients include international aid agencies, NGOs, and governments, and others within development sectors. However, their charitable arm, the Bilqees Sarwar Foundation (BSF), provides services and support directly to beneficiaries. BSF, named after Sarwar’s mother, was originally created as the company’s solution to the lack of quality healthcare treatment within Pakistan. BSF also operates internationally, bringing solar products to children in Nepal and Lebanon and creating a back-to-school campaign for internally displaced persons in Syria.

BSF also has deep roots in education. After the Peshawar attacks on school children in December 2014, BSF teamed up with a local school system to help 40 students complete their school year. “We wanted to tell a different story, a good story about Pakistan and Pakistanis,” says Sarwar. NRS International has joined the Global Business Coalition for Education to further expand its global reach and impact, particularly within emergency and conflict areas. In Sarwar’s own words: “We want to do more. We can do more.”
