Intel Corporation: Deploying Technology to Improve Education

Global Business Coalition for Education founding member company Intel Corporation launched two initiatives during United Nations General Assembly week, endorsing a new policy from Education International (EI) at the Global Business Coalition for Education’s second annual breakfast September 25 and unveiling ‘She Will Connect,’ an initiative to reduce digital literacy gender gap at the Clinton Global Initiative alongside Secretary Hilary Clinton.
The Education International endorsement, announced by Intel Foundation President Shelly Esque, seeks to improve the quality of learning and teaching for all through aiding international technology suppliers to connect to educators in deploying modern technology.  Joining forces, Intel and EI mapped out ways in which teacher organizations, school authorities, and students can collaborate to best use technology systems and strategies to further the learning process.
The use of information and communications technology in education increases exposure, enhances interactions, and facilitates communication between students, educators, and their communities to improve quality of learning.

Aiming to reach 5 million women, ‘She Will Connect’ will expand digital literacy skills to young women through the development of an online gaming platform that allows space for individual learning or connection with peers across mobile devices, tablets, or PCs. Acknowledging the power of the internet “as a gateway to ideas, resources and opportunities,” Ms. Esque outlined Intel’s belief “that closing the Internet gender gap has the tremendous potential to empower women and enrich their lives as well as all the lives they touch” in the development of the program.
