GBC-Education Looks Forward to Representing the Private Sector on GPE’s Board
Over the past 24 months, the Global Business Coalition for Education has represented the private sector in engagement with the Global Partnership for Education.
Today, at the Global Partnership for Education’s (GPE) board meeting in Stockholm, the Board approved a new private sector engagement strategy, which establishes a pathway for GPE to engage and leverage private sector expertise, finance, goods and services, advocacy, and voice. As part of the decision, other than in exceptional circumstances, no GPE funds can be used to support for-profit provision of core education services. The Board also approved the creation of a new Board seat for the private sector, expanding the reach of the partnership to better deliver Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4).
The Global Business Coalition for Education looks forward to representing the private sector in the new board arrangement and harnessing the potential of the business community to support GPE and SDG 4.
As a movement of businesses committed to ending the global education crisis, the Global Business Coalition for Education is committed to engaging the business community in supporting the major global institutions and mechanisms delivering and financing education and skills, including the Global Partnership for Education, the Education Cannot Wait Fund, the International Finance Facility for Education, and UNICEF’s Generation Unlimited initiative.
